I live in the small
City of Salem located
in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia. I have
lived here for my entire life except for the brief two years
I served active duty in the United States Army during the
Viet Nam War. I pulled one year of duty in Viet Nam and
returned back to my hometown where I met my wife of
thirty years, Sylvia.
Sylvia had two small daughters from her
first marriage when we met named Sherri and Barbara which I
helped raise. I think of those two girls as my own and love
them very much. The oldest, Sherri, is married and lives in
South Florida with her husband of twelve years and their
three little boys which are our pride and joy. The younger
daughter, Barbara lives with us and is a pleasure to be
around, especially since she enjoys college football and
televised sports as much as I do.
My Profession . . .
I am a professional painter by trade and
have been employed at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital
in Roanoke, Virginia for
over twenty-five years in their maintenance department. As a
long term employee at Roanoke Memorial Hospital I have seen
it grow and transform many times over during my employment. Carilion Roanoke Memorial and it's affiliated regional
hospitals, clinics and rehabilitation services now offer the
largest and most comprehensive medical services in
Southwest Virginia. I am proud to be associated with and
employed by Carilion.
Some of My Hobbies . . .
In my leisure time I enjoy watching
televised sports, especially Nascar racing, NCAA college
football and pro football. I am big fan of Jeff Gordon, the
San Francisco 49er's and especially The University Of
Miami Hurricanes. I have devoted one of my web pages to
The Miami Hurricanes which includes their 2004 football
schedule and game outcomes.

My Chihuahua Gypsy . . .
Sylvia
and I own a tiny Chihuahua named Gypsy that's spoiled
rotten. My wife is a website developer and has built a huge
site for this little dog that she dotes on like it were her
firstborn child. :-) I get a kick out of the site, too, to
tell you the truth and help out sometimes with the photo
shoots, etc. for Gypsy. My wife is a good seamstress and has
made countless little elaborate costumes which Gypsy models
on many of her web pages with cute "stories and themes" to
go with them. You can visit Gypsy's fun site by clicking on
the picture at left or by visiting my site map.
I Love Deer Hunting . . .
In November I like to go deer hunting. I
hunt on 90 acres of private land near Buchanan, Virginia. It is beautiful country where we live
and I really enjoy being outdoors! There is an abundance of
whitetail deer, wild turkey and even black bears in
Southwest Virginia. I only hunt during rifle season which is
about two weeks out of the year near Thanksgiving. Virginia
has two types of hunting and trapping which require a
license or permit; Game and Furbearer Species and
Migratory Species. To learn more about hunting, trapping

Water Gardens and Flower Gardening . . .
During
the warm months my wife and I both enjoy flower gardening
and also have two large water gardens which I dug and built
myself. I am very proud of the water gardens where I have
planted water lily's, giant lotus and marginal bog plants.
There are many goldfish in the ponds which survive our cold
winters without any problem. Several years ago we purchased about half a dozen tadpoles
from a professional water garden supplier in hopes of having
our very own bullfrogs. needless to say, those few tadpoles
MORE than met our expectations and we now have many, many
bullfrogs in our backyard which sing to us in the evenings
all summer long! Luckily, our neighbors enjoy this sound
they make and comment that they always look forward to
spring and hearing the frogs croak for the first time!
Enjoying Life's Simple Pleasures . . .
My wife and I enjoy browsing through antique stores and
attending the many arts and crafts festivals in our area
throughout the year. We eat out often since our children are
grown, but my wife is a good cook as well as my stepdaughter
who lives with us. Those two women keep me in "good eats!" I
have shared some of my wife's best recipes on this website
which include such goodies as her fabulous Red Velvet
Cake, Smoked Salmon Party Log and Bourbon
Glaze For Baked Ham! To visit the recipe page

My Wife . . .
Sylvia, my wife and partner of thirty years designed and
built my website. She has worked at different types of jobs
over the years, many from our home as she raised our family.
She is an expert seamstress, a portrait artist, a good
photographer and a web site developer. All of her abilities
are self-taught and I believe she could teach herself to do
most anything once she makes up her mind to do so. You can
visit my wife's two other websites, Woolie Webs and
Meet Gypsy The Red Chihuahua, which are listed on my
LINKS PAGE.
I hope you have enjoyed my website and if so, please take a
moment to leave your comments in my guestbook. I enjoy
hearing from my visitors around the world!
